Nairobi police commander Joseph Ole Tito confirmed the arrest by stating that among the ten suspects there was a man who had raped a woman on the unknown date. The woman’s identity is yet to be unveiled. According to Tito, the suspects were all street boys and they knew the woman. He also stated that “in as much as they knew her, the manner in which it happened was wrong.”
He urged the victim of the awful ordeal to record a statement at Central Police station over the incidence of rape. The viral video comprised of a group of four people who recorded the video and others cheered as they watched the act of sexual assault.
The group was arrested during an operation by the group of detectives led by the Central head of DCI Samuel Kobina. “Don’t kill me please and please warn that person to stop recording. He might cause me to be killed, “cried the woman who was threatened to be killed if she resisted.
The colleagues of the man who was performing the awful act are heard from the background cheering. The woman keeps silent and is seen trying to hide her face. The route is named as rape den as the acts of rape have been rapid.
Charles Rubia a shop attendant said that “Girls cannot use that path alone. You had rather go round”.
He also told Standard Digital “Those men there are not just street children, be warned. They are usually high on drugs and mostly armed and will not hesitate to attack you”
On Tuesday Nicholas Kamwande, the Nairobi Director of Criminal Investigations said that “What happened to the woman was wrong and we urging her, wherever she is, to come to my office and record a statement so that she can help us in getting the man behind it.”
