Cryptocurrency has been called the next big thing, a financial revolution that will make pockets so heavy with profits making those seen during the tech boom in the 90’s look like pocket change. Truly so, we have seen different currencies rocket in ridiculous profit rates, 100%, 400%, 700% and up to 1000%. All along for Africans and particularly Kenyans we could only watch and invest where we could. So, why didn’t we get into the game? Why not have our own? It was clear that these projects were attracting billions of money from investors, and they seemed to solve financial problems, many of which we have in Kenya. well, that question rang in one Kenyan’s mind and he has come up with the answer.
Isaac Muthui has taken a bold move creating the very fast Pan-African The first Pan-African Cryptocurrency; Nurucoin. From right here in Kenya. Muthui believes that his technology is very needed in Africa and will solve some of the greatest challenges facing the continent.
One challenge he believes his currency will solve is the unpredictable depreciation of the government currencies. Nurucoin will be more stable making it easier and cheaper to trade with on the international ground. This means this will be the choice of payment when paying for import and export across African borders.
The platform also allows for Smart contracts where every deal is underlined by a smart code. This will ensure that both the buyer and the seller get the service and payment they require. Something that is very needed in this continent.
Isaac Muthui’s heart seems to be in the right place and he has put Africa and in particular Kenya on the map for technological advancement. However, it goes to say that there are issues underlining the platform.
Other than the issue faced by big Cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, Nurucoin also has a few more red flags, from the fact that their Whitepaper is allegedly copied from another currency, no company is up to now accepting payment through Nuru coins, they hardly have a Social media presence to the fact that its team of consultants is extremely to reach. Some of these are initial hitches that will definitely be sorted as Nurucoin’s team grows but some are indicators that this is not a project you want to pour your hard earned cash into.
But whatever the case I wish Isaac Muthui all the best and I look forward to seeing how long and far Nurucoin goes.
